Our Beginnings
A graduate from the University of the District of Columbia Mortuary Science program and Howard University Business Program a young man with a dream from Fort Valley, Peach County Georgia set out to become a mortician. He was a man with a vision a DCMEO retiree and a licensed mortician in Washington, D.C. licensed in 1985 and retired from DCMEO in 1998, bought a building from Huntemann Funeral Home and Ambulance Service. This man is Larry Snead Sr. and this establishment is Snead Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Washington, D.C. Which is family-owned and operated and serving the Metropolitan Area for now over 20 years.
In honor of the late Mr. Claybon Edwards 1929- 2015 Rev. Larry Snead Sr. of New Dawn Baptist Church 5909 Riggs Rd. Hyattsville, Md. bought C.J. Edwards Funeral Home 409 Preston St. Fort Valley, Ga. from his old second boss. His first boss was George Snead Sr. well known farmer of Fort Valley was his first boss. Now his own boss, a Georgia Boy, opened a third funeral home in 2019 called Community Funeral Home and Cremation Service 8340 Eisenhower Blvd, Lizella, Ga. to better serve you.
