On October 14,2012, after a brief illness at home, Thomas Daniel Garner was lifted from the flesh to have eternal life in his new home with the lord. Thomas was born to the late James D. and Nancy L.Garner on December 21,1941. He was the fifth child of eleven having two older brothers and one sister precede him in death. Thomas, fondly called Tommy, was a native of Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania where he attended the Bellmar Public School System. He was extremely proud of his success as a bantam weight Dapper Dan Golden Glove Champion in Western Pennsylvania. He was a loyal and sicere lover of his hometown Arnold City, where he found great harmony in country living. He played football, developed a singing voice as a youth and frequently sang solo and with groups in local singing competitions.

Tommy moved to the Washington, DC area in 1960, shortly after high school and married his lovely wife of fifty-one years, Ms. Catherine Robinson. From this union Tommy's proud legacy includes five children: Sons: Kevin(Ruth), Thomas Jr. and Terrill(Wanda) and Daughters: Stacy and Terry(Stacy Brown). Tommy was blessed to see each of his children start their own families and to share seven grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren with him.

Tommy sang with several gospel groups but found his niche with the "the Silvertones of Kensington Maryland". Music was his great love among many gifts. He Loved working with his hands and was quite a craftsman showing skills in auto mechanics, body detailing, home makeovers/repairs and upholstery. Tommy loved the outdoors, and was an avid gardener who planted and found relaxation in working with the earth.

Tommy's nickname, "T Steel" reflected his undaunting love for the Pitsburgh Steelers, the black and gold. He was a loyal fan until the end. A wonderful fun-loving guy with a big heart, the gift of gab and a gentle disposition. Tommy loved family and took pride in providing. He was a humble man and a gentle giant who believed in God for his strength and will. Tommy attended Church regularly and attended family bible study weekly where he was a tremendous inspiration to the group. This child of God, given many gifts and talents found his final resting place in heaven. He is cherished by family, five sisters, two living brothers, nieces and nephews, friends and all those whose lives he touched.
