Saundra Camille Rogers, born on January 11, 1963, in Washington, D.C., was a beacon of dedication and excellence. The cherished firstborn of Dr. Norman Rogers and Juanita Slack Rogers, Saundra's early education began at St. Anthony's Catholic School and Cynthia Walrner Girls School. Her journey continued through High Point Senior High School in Prince George's Country, Maryland, leading her to pursue higher education with distinction at Boston University and Georgetown University. She earned two master's degrees and was pursuing a doctorate at Nova Southeastern University when she took a brief hiatus last year.

Saundra dedicated twenty years of her career to teaching English as a Second Language students in Arlington County, Virginia, particularly at Escela Key, a K-S Spanish immersion elementary school. Her commitment was to provide immigrant students with exceptional education and offer American-born students the opportunity to become bilingual. Her passion for teaching and her creative spirit made her a standout educator; admired by both students and colleagues.

Beyond her professional achievements, Saundra was an enthusiastic storyteller; scriptwriter; and a devoted fan of shows like The Blacklist and Shondaland series. Her talents extended to the arts, where she nurtured young children's creativity through dance and theater; As a Lead Majorette in the Chillum Adelphi Drum and Bugle Corps for the Chillum Fire Department, she brought joy and energy to her community.

Saundra's legacy of love, gratitude, and admiration will be deeply missed by all who know her. She is preceded in death by her father,; Dr. Norman Rogers, and her brother; Norman Rogers III, as well as her adopted son, nelson Orellana Garcia, who succumbed to Covid 19.

She leaves behind her devoted husband of thirteen years, Gregory Sykes; her mother, Juanita Slack Rogers; her brother Robert "Rudu" Rogers (Lachelle); her uncle, Robert Eberhart Slack Jr.;  her aunt, Helen Maryanne Slack Broadus (Eddie); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, long-term colleagues , and dear friends.

Saundra's life was a testament to her unyielding faith, tireless dedication, and loving spirit. her memory will forever be cherished.
