Samuel endured different physical ailments, but he continued to rejoice in the presence of the Lord. He loved listening to Malayalam hymns. During the past month, he would awake in the middle of the night to pray and seek God. H was so passionate after praying that he would ask Elzy if he could shout "Hallehujah!" loudly in the middle of the night. He would encourage Elzy to read the Bible to him and would repeat the verses with his hands lifted high. During his final days, he prayed vigilantly for his daughter-in-law, Nancy, to have a safe delivery. Though K. L. Samuel was taken to the hospital. God allowed him to see his newborn grandson, Luke.
