IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ruth T.
Sam
October 18, 1954 – August 25, 2023
Ruth T. Sam was born on October 18th, 1954, the third child of the late Grace and Victor James, in Kollam Kerala, India. She was raised in a God-fearing home by very loving parents. Although her mother was deaf and mute, she was a mighty prayer warrior and a faithful member of the TPM Church. At a young age, Ruth was very responsible , she looked after her little brother and ensured he attended both school and Sunday School. Around her late teens, her father passed away and she experienced the divine provision of God. After taking water baptism, she taught Sunday School in the Kollam Church.
Ruth married Sam T. Mathew on February 19th, 1985. After 2 years she moved to Bombay with her husband and her son, Moses Sam. There, along with her family, she attended the Ville Parle Church . She was also a superintendent at a Rehabilation Center for Women managed by her aunt., Mrs. Marykutty James. In 1993, after having her second son George Sam, she and her family moved back to Trivandrum.
In 1996, Ruth suffered a stroke which paralyzed the left side of her body. After an unsuccessful 6 days at the hospital, she returned home. On the 19th day, the late Pastor Menon visited from Bombay. He prayed for her and said. "You will walk within 24 hours!" And within the proclaimed time she got up and started walking. She experinced the power of ressurrection in her body and continued to serve many saints.
In August 2004, Ruth and her family moved to maryland. In the early years she taught in the Christian School where she expressed her passion to teach. Due to her health, she retired from teaching duties and remained a faithful wife and a mother to her family. At a very young age, the Lord was able to mold her character to live a modest and simple life which continued into her married life. She was always content with what she had. She was quiet, meek spirited and never complained.
She was a hospitable hostess, she enjoyed preparing delicious meals for everyone. She loved listening to songs and messages from different conventions. Through these messages and songs, the Lord did a beautiful work of building up her faith and sanctifying her inner being. Recently, she was delighted to see her brother return to the faith. She felt the faithfulness of God who answers prayers of those who diligently seek Him. She prayed for others who were suffering even during her time of affliction.
In the past few months, Ruth suffered through loss of sleep which resulted in physical and emotional pain. During this time, her family ministered to her by praying with her, reading the Word of God and the Morning Manna that strenghthened her to achieve physical healing and spiritual growth. She quite often would cry out to the Lord and ask"Jesus, when will I see your face". One morning she collapsed, and her sons prayed with her. The Lord in His mercy raised her up as she worshipped Him in the Spirit and was encouraged by many prophecies and promises. During her last days her desire to be in New Jerusalem and Zion intensified. She started inquiring about eternity as she eagerly waited to be with her Lord.
On August 25th, 2023, she collapsed again as both her sons were holding her. While praying, a mighty anointing came down and the joy of being in the presence of the Lord was felt as her beloved Jesus took her home.
She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years Sam T. Mathew; and her sons Moses Sam and George Sam; and her brother Samson James in Kerala, India.
