Obituary

Robert ("Bulldog") Giles Bullock was born in Fayetteville, NC to the late Hubert and Pearl Hagan Bullock on May 2, 1940. He attended school in Fayetteville. He departed this life and received his wings on August 11, 2017. Eventually Robert made his way to Washington, DC, with his mother and latebrother Carl Bullock. He made a living in construction where he specilaized in laying concrete. Robert was a devout Christian and loved to sing the gospel. His favorite artist was Goepel Singer Lee Williams. Not a day went by where he didin't listen to Williams of some other gospel music. He often enjoyed listening to Williams songs like "Jesus Will Fix It' or "I Can't Give Up'. He served on the Usher Board at Isles of Patmos Baptist Church in Washington, DC for many years. And most recently attended Kelsey Temple Church of God in Christ in Washington, DC. He was an avid angler and loved cooking, escpecialy fish, Some of his favorite catches were bass, trout, and catfish, but he loved cooking and eating all kinds of fish. He also loved sharing his culinary skills and could make a mean pot of collard greens with smoked turkey or ham hocks.
Robert loved people and loved making them laugh and smile. He had a special gift of touching everyone who came in contact with him. His laughter was contagious. He was so well known, that he was like a staple in the community. He met so many of his friends on the corner of 7th & T Streets, Northwest, where he frequently hung out until he became ill. He was the "Mr. Rogers" of the neighborhood. Back in the day, one of his favorite pastimes was cruising slowly through the neighborhood in his blue Ford pickup truck, honking at and greeting everyone he passed, including strangers. As far as he was concerned, no one was a stranger in his eyes. He was a family man and loved to shower anyone who visited him {even strangers} with some type of keepsake or gift. He spent his final years living in a senior complex [Samuel Key Apartments] where he would often be seen sitting in front of the building greeting local residents and people passing by. He was the ambassador of the complex and knew every resident. He also made frequent trips to the local neighborhood Giant grocery store where he served as an "unofficial" greeter to everyone entering the store. Robert also loved animals and was crazy about his canine companion beareded Colli named Max, who preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn friend Evelyn Waters of Washington, DC, daughter Tonya Frazier Jones (Warren) of Washington,DC; three stepdaughters, Margaret Renee Cash of Washington, DC, Deborah Ann Jackson of Arizona and Dorothea JacksonBoothe (Alvin) of Arizona, and one stepson Richard Allen Jackson (Pamela ) of Maryland, 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, aunts , uncles and cousins in North Carolina and New York, a devoted caregiver Faye Teghen, and host of special friends.
