Rachel (Ammukutty) Simon was born on January 24, 1928 lo Aleyamma and Thomas Varghese Andathethu of the Marathoma feith in Pullad, Kerala She was the youngest of eight but unfortunately two siblings died at a young age.
While Rachel was pursuing her high school education, her parents arranged for her to marry Simon Mathew on December 06, 1944.1 le belonged to lhe Jacobite faith. God blessed them with two daughters and two sons. bu( one daughter died when she was a tew days old. When she was six months pregnant with her youngest son, her husband died of a heart attack Thus she became a widow at (he age of 26 with three small children who were under the age ot ten She never remarried because she said no one else could lake the place of her husband whom she loved dearly
In 1958. Rachel became a member of I'hc Pentecostal Mission Church Ever since she trusted God (or all her needs including divine healing Many of her family members served in lhe ministry; including her nephew (he lale Pastor Joy Thomas who served as a central pastor in Thirnvalla, India. Her eldest sister llic late Sister Mariyamma served in the ministry in Kodyum, India Rachel herself was also involved, serving as a Sunday Sclu>ol teacher who loved to study and teach the Bible Furthermore, she greatly respected the servants of God and helped lhe ministry in whatever capacity she could.
Rachel immigrated to (he United States in September of 1983. I lowcvcr. Rachel told her daughter that she had two conditions lor staying in (he US; firstly, she would only attend lhe TPM fellowship; secondly, she wanted lo continue to wear the iradiiional Keraiite Christian woman s outfit of a chatta, ncriatlm, and mundu. In 1991, Rachel became a U.S citizen While in the U.S., Rachel loved to spend her tunc praying, reading the Bible, and taking care o( her grandchildren. She woke up in lhe early morning hours to pray (hr her children, and grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Due to her prayers, her family have received many blessings.
In lhe last five years, Rachel's health started declining due (o poor eye sight and Alzheimer's dementia. I hrough her struggles,Rachel remained steadfast in her lailh in God. Rachel would sing Christian songs and recite bible verses Irom memory She longed to go home, and God finally granted her request on June 07, 2020. Rachel had three children Susan (Soman). Mathew (late Aneyku(ty) and l liomas (Jaisy). seven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren Iler family is graieful lo everyone tor their continued support. Please continue to uphold the family m your prayers.
