Ponnamma Thomas

March 13th, 1952 – March 28th, 2022

Ponnamma Thomas was born on March 13, 1952, the 5th child of the late Geevarghese
Chacko and Kunjamma Chacko in Chathanoor, India. She grew up in a nominal Christian
Marthoma family. At the age of fifteen, God spoke to Ponnamma's heart to visit the local TPM
church. The ministers at the faith home received her lovingly. They shared the gospel of Jesus
Christ with her and invited her to attend Sunday School. She began attending the Sunday services
regularly. The ministers advised her to live a holy and separated life and they taught her to trust
in God for everything, even in sickness.

Ponnamma saw a vision before taking water baptism. In the vision, she was praying
in the faith home and she heard a voice asking everyone to pray. Heavy rains covered the earth
like the days of Noah in her vision. She heard another voice, then the rain ceased and the waters
receded. She ran home, concerned for the well-being of her family members. When she told the
ministers about her vision, they told her that God wanted her to take water baptism and asked
why she delayed. Ponnamma took water baptism in March 1970. In another vision, she saw the
cross of Jesus on a hill. She understood that she had to trust in Jesus to live. While she was taking
water baptism, she made a decision to fully trust in Him and not take medication. After baptism,
she had tonsillitis and everyone at home compelled her to go to hospital. After two weeks, God
healed her completely. She overcame her first trial of faith.

Ponnamma prayed and fasted that God would provide her with a husband that feared
God and was strong in faith. God answered her prayers. Ponnamma and Thomas Varghese were
married in 1976 and had two sons and one daughter, who they brought up in the fear of God.
Their daughter went to the full-time ministry and is currently serving God in India. Ponnamma
was a prayer warrior who prayed for the believers in the church and all of the ministers around
the world. She read the whole Bible 39 times. God gave her visions of Zion, New Jerusalem and
hell. She loved to help those in need, prayed for the sick, and served passionately. She witnessed
to many and brought many to the Lord. Many sicknesses came but she stood for divine healing

In yet another vision, Ponnamma saw that she was running through a wilderness. She
approached a high wall and a large gate, where a guard stood. The guard asked her why she had
come and she responded that she wanted to see Jesus. He refused, but when she began to cry, he
opened the gate and asked her to look. She saw Jesus sitting on His glorious throne and the
angels were around Him. She noticed that the path that led to Jesus was lined with demons
holding javelins. She looked at Jesus and cried saying, "Jesus help me to come to you." Jesus
told her, "Come with praises in your mouth." The demons looked at her with anger and they
blocked the way with their javelins. It was impossible to pass through but she closed her eyes
and ran praising God until she reached His presence, who then held her and kissed her. She knew
her entire life would be full of narrow paths. There were many tests of faith including sicknesses
and trials.

Ponnamma had the privilege of coming to America and living with her eldest son and family till her last day. She loved gardening and giving to others the fruits of her labor. She alsoenjoyed her time with her grandchildren and was able to go for their activities,  performances, and recitals. She would always wait eargerly for her grandchildren to come home from school. Herfamily life was happy and peaceful. She assisted all who came to her for help and prayed fervently for them. She was always willing to help the servants of God both here and in India.

After living for several years in America, Ponnamma was afflicted with sickness.
Before her stroke, she had told her daughter-in-law that she did not want to go to the hospital
and that she wanted to keep the covenant she had made with the Lord regarding divine healing.
She was surrounded by the ministers of God, family members, and loved ones when she entered
into the presence of God on March 28, 2022. She had fought a good fight of faith.

Ponnamma is survived by her husband her three children (Joby, Jojy, and Jolly), two
daughters-in-law (Sally and Maricar), three grandchildren (Josiah, Nathan, and Jothmier),
brothers, sisters, and many friends and church members who she loved and prayed for
throughout her whole life.
