Obituary

Nora Lee Jackson was born to the late Major Taylor, Sr. and Eva Hodges Taylor in Wilson County,
North Carolina. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one stepson Osie Jackson,
Jr., and the following siblings: George Taylor, Major Taylor Jr., Jasper Taylor and Lillie Forsythe.
Nora was raised in Wilson County. She graduated from Williamson Springfield High School in Lucam
a, NC in 1956. Her favorite subject was French. She answered the call to follow Christ at an early
age and joined New Vester Church and served in singing praises as a choir member alongside her
Mother and Sisters. Following graduation, she moved to Washington, DC and joined the Isle of
Patmos Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. George B. Rogers and was ordained as a
Deaconess and served faithfully where she was
needed until her health declined. She was employed with Fannie Mae Federal National Mortgage
Association and worked as a short
order cook. She enjoyed cooking; singing; gardening; family and friends.
On March 26, 1970, Nora married her husband of 50 years Deacon Osie Jackson, Sr. Their love endured
through sickness and health for better or worse. Nora made her transition Monday, April 13, 2020.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband Osie Jackson, Sr, three daughters Felicia Tarver,
(Rev. Reginald Tarver), Sheila Taylor, Wilson, NC, Rathie Jackson, two sons Joseph Jackson, Oklah
oma City, Dennis Taylor, Brunswick, Georgia, Adopted children (AKA "The Jackson Five") Shanequia
Jackson, New York, Jaquan Jackson, Washington, DC, Lasherika Jackson, Washington, DC,,
Ladesha Jackson, Washington, DC and Anthony Jackson, Washington, DC, grandchildren reared in
the home, grandson
Osie M. Jackson, granddaughter, Jaszmine Jackson, Additional grandchildren, Dennis Taylor Jr,
Reginald Tarver II and Christian Tarver. Siblings, Robert Taylor, Oxon Hill, Maryland, Hattie Allen,
Washington, DC, Dollie Riley (Rev. Leroy Riley) Silver Springs, Maryland. A host of in-laws, nieces,
nephews, cousins and friends.
