Obituary

"Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live." - John 11:25

M.R. Thomas, known as Joseph Thomas, Sr., was called to his eternal home in glory on June 7, 2019.  He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Josephine Thomas, who entered glory on October 6, 2011.

Joseph was born on September 4, 1942, and raised in Tindivanam, India.  After completing degrees in Mathematics and Mechanical Engineering in India, Joseph came to Washington D.C. in 1971.   After receiving the Lord Jesus as his personal savior and being baptized in water and in the Holy Spirit, Joseph remained faithful in service to God and his church family at New Testament Church.  He was a humble man with a gentle and caring spirit.  He was eager to help others and was instrumental in bringing many relatives and loved ones to the United States.  Over the years, Joseph worked as an engineer at Washington Hospital Center, Providence Hospital, and Howard University, prior to his retirement in 2016.  He was a devoted husband, loving father, supportive brother, and doting grandfather.

Joseph is survived by his children, Joseph, Jr, Leo, and Priscilla; his brothers, Rathinam Susai and Philomin Raj (and their respective families); his daughters-in-law, Anita and Kanchana; and his grandchildren, Stephanie & Julia, as well as a host of relatives and loved ones residing across the United States, as well as the countries of India & France.

The Family would like to thank everyone for all their love, support, and prayers during this difficult time.
