Lethia M. Newton, 93, of Fort Washington, MD. died April 30, 2013 in Bradford Oaks Nursing & Rehabillitation Center after suffering a stroke.
Born in Atlanta, Georgia on Ocyober 28, 1919 she was the daughter of the late Willie Tucker and Eliza Crowder Tucker.
She had a distinguished career in the Federal Government and served at the Office of Personnel Management, Veteran's Administration, and Bureau of Engravin. After her retirement she worked at Woodward & Lothrop in Temple Hills, MD. She also travelled extensively, visited family and friends, and enjoyed the camaraderie of the parish at the Bible Way Temple in Washington, D.C.
Lethia was the loving wife of James Harvey Newton, whom she married in May 1953 in Washington D.C. She is survived by her sister Adele (Sammy) Cobb of Atlanta, Georgia, brothers James Tucker of Temple Hills, MD, and Rooosevelt Tucker of Atlanta, Georgia. She is also survived by her daughter Barbara Owings (Willie) of Temple Hills, Maryland; her granddaughters Darcia Tudor (Gary), Stacey Frantzen (John), Stephanie Hatcher (Carl) all of Seattle, Washington; her grandson Derrick Owings (Nancy) of Cherry Hill, New Jersey; her great-grandchildren Kylie (Marcus), Tony (Andrea), Danielle, Mackenzie, Tessa, Jasmine, Payton, Quinn, and great-great grandchildren Jihad, Isabella and Lilliana.
