On Monday November 5th 2012, Julia Boarded her flight home to be with her heavenly father, the Lord Almighty. Julia was born August 8th, 1930 in Edgefield, South Carolina, to late Annie Mae and Henry Garrett. The family relocated to Washington DC while Julia during her elementary school years; She went on to complete her education in the District of Coulmbia public school systems.
She met and married Cal Brice and this union was blessed with three fantastic children; Carolyn, Renee, and Cal. Julia enjoyed a enjoyed a career as a statistician for the Federal Reserve Board. This afforded her the opportunity to become an avid traveler.
Her Family was organizers of the Greater New Hope Baptist Church, where Julia served on the junior usher board, as well as song in church choir. She later joined Lincoln Park United Methodist Church and her works are surely speaking for her.Julia worked tirelessly in Lincoln Park Methodist Church, serving as chair in the Board od Trustees, Vice Presdient of the Uhser Board, member of United Methodist Women, as well as member of STRC.
Julia loved to travel; she was blessed to travel with a travel club for several years; to various places such as New Orleans, Atlanta, Georgia, Miami, Florida, Aruba, just to name a few. One of her last trips before becoming air was Las Vegas with herr cousin and traveling buddy, Lu. In fact, when she returned to Las vegas both she and Lu shared a hospital roo, one in bed A the other in bed B(apparently what happen in Vegas didn't stay Vegas).
Not only did she enjoy traveling but she had to be dressed just right with everything matching, the latest style and head in the air, such a refined lady. However what she loved most was spending time with her family. God truly blessed Julia to enjoy life.
She leaves to mourn her passing a very special friend James Brown, two daugthers, Carolyn Clay(Leroy Jr.), Renee Henderson(Michael), one son Cal Brice(Dena), four sisters, Jessie Blair, Ella Simpson, Denise Garrett, and Joyce Carter, one brother Donald Garrett(Gloria) six grandchildren Turleta Harlan, LaShawn Williams(Dominic), Nicole Burgess, Leroy Clay III, Calena Brice, and preceded in death by Africa Brice, five great grandchildren, Caniesha Barnes, Keianna Simms, Dominic Williams Jr, Michael Burgess II, and Dillion Williams, a very special cousin and a host of other relatives and friends.
