Obituary

On November 20, 1955, a great man, John W.J. Vaughan Jr. was born to John W.J. Vaughan Sr. and Mary Middleton Lee Vaughan in Washington D.C. both whom preceded him in death. John was the youngest of eleven children. He was 61 years young and had a truly full and rewarding life with his wife. Linda Vaughan and his 3 beautiful children John W.J. Vaughan, III, Aurelia Vaughan, and Belinda Renae Smith. John was educated in the District of Columbia public school system, attending up until his junior year at McKinley Tech Senior High School. He completed his high school studies and graduted from the Nuremberg American Senior High School located in Fuerth, Germany. He continued his studies and accumulated over four years of college by attending the University of District of Columbia. Prince George's Community College, and two years of study at the Maples Springs Baptist Bible College. John served in the United States Army for over 3 years amd upon his honorable discharge, he then entered the US Army Reserve rising up to the rank of First Sergeant. After 18 years of service, he requested reassignment to the Inactive Reserves Component. He was an employee of the Unted States Department of Veterans Affairs for over 30 years, serving the Information Technology Office as an Information Technology Specialist. John was a fearless shepherd for the Lord. He exhibited a commanding presence wherever he went. John could light up room with ease and start a conversation with just about anyone, especially with his unforgettable "loud John voice". John definitely had that thing that drew many people to him. He was a man of influence, who was full of advice even sometimes when it wasn't even asked for. But nonetheless, he would give it to you anyway. John was a loving soul, emjoyed spending time with his family and most importantly ministering the word of God. He leaves behind to cherish his memories: wife for over 35 years, Linda Vaughan, three kids, John W.J. Vaughan III (Leilana), Aurelia Vaughan, Belinda Renae Smith (Ryan), seven grandkids, Jayli and John C. Vaughan, Kamari Burns, Braylin Smith, Jai'dyn Burns, Zoe and Ava Smith; 3 brothers and 3 sisters, and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces and a plethora of family relatives and friends.
