On Monday, August 31, 2015, Hazel Lee Wiley quietly departed this life and went home with the Lord. On October 24, 1927, Hazel Lee was born in Cedar Grove, North Carolina to the late Arvie and Vertilea (Bert) Wade where she attended public schools and received her early education. On November 10, 1945, she was united in holy matrimony to the late Dan Allen Wiley Jr. and to this union eight loving children were born. In 1959 alongside her husband, they left North Carolina with their children and relocated to the Washington, DC area. Hazel was a homemaker up until she secured employment with the late Donald Sinrod, Esq. and his devoted wife Phyllis for many years. After relocating to the DC metropolitan area, she and her family joined Solid Rock Baptist Church in 1959 under the leadership of Pastor Nehemiah Rhinehart, Sr. where she served the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. She was affectionately known as "Mother Wiley". She also served faithfully in many capacities at the church. She served on the Trustee Board Vice President of the Women Ministry, the Church Financial Recording Secretary, Transportation Committee to name a few ministries Mother Wiley was committed and apart of. Mother Wiley loved tom sing and served on various choirs at the church such as. The Ever Ready Chorus. The Volunteer Chorus, The Radio Choir and The Solid Rock Combine Choir. She loved her church family and they loved her. Mother Wiley loved her family and took pride in cooking meals during the holidays and preparing for summer cookouts. She, alongside her husband, started the Dan's Raiders Baseball Team where all of her sons, cousins and friends played for many years winning many championships. Mother Wiley leaves to cherish her memories, six children, David, Priscilla, Larry (Melanie), Gloria, DeCarlo all of Washington, D.C. and Sucovis (Malcolm) of Hillsborough, N.C. , twenty-two grandchildren; Tawanda, Trina (Frank), Amperita, Yolanda Alvin (Tesha), Crystal, Rhonda (David), Katina (Isaac), Harriet, La Tia (Clarence), Tamika (Tyvon), Larry Jr. (Luci), Andrea, Marsha, Billy, Lonnell, and Dominique, thirtry-four great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Louise Allen, three sister in laws; Frances Wade, Johnnie Wiley, and Juanita Wiley, one godson, Victor, her long time friend Nettie Dunn and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by two children; Annie Lee and Harry (Virgie) and her brother Leon Wade.
