Obituary

In Loving Memory of:
Born on October 6,1913 to Tom Snead and Lillie Mae Duncan Snead in Americus, Georgia. George was the oldest of seven siblings, all of whom prceded him in death. He attended school in Sumter and Peach countries.

He was married to Minnie Pearl Williams Snead for seventy seven years before her passing in 2011. To this union fourteen children were born three of whom preceded them in death; Delero and infant twins Ervin and Edwina.

Mr. Snead joined the Central Union Baptist Church in 1936 and remained a faithful member throughout his lifetime. He served as Sunday School Teacher, Usher, Deacon, Church Treasurer, Chairman of the Deacon Board, Trustee and in any other capacity needed. He was always firm in his beliefs.

Mr. Snead was a successful farmer where he produced many crops and live stocks for sale and family use. Also he was employed for a number of years at the Happy Vale Flour Mill in Fort Valley. During World War II Mr. Snead served his country in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1945. After over 70 years in the farming business, he retired from the career he loved in 2012.

Deacon Snead moved from labor to reward on April 13, 2013. He leaves to cherish his memories eleven children. Annette Plant of Fort Valley, Ga; George T. Lavonne Lowman (Hal Sr.) Fort Valley, Ga.; a daughter-in-law Jo Ann Snead (Delero) Atlanta, Ga. and a devoted sister-in-law Lillie M. Snead, Fort Valley, Ga.; over 100 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, great-great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
