David G. Myers was the 12th child of 13 born to the late Lewis & Annie Myers. He was born on March 10, 1930 in Saint Mary's, Georgia. He departed this earthly life on Friday, February 16, 2018, fully trusting the Lord. David Myers received his education in the Saint Mary's School System. He served in the United States Army and completed his service with an honorable discharge. He moved to the Washington, D.C. area in 1953. He took great joy in sharing his knowledge with anyone who was willing to listen. He met Gertrude Fluelling in 1949 and they were joined in holy matrimony in 1954. He also accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in 1954. He and his wife were among the founding members of The Full Gospel Baptist Church (TFGBC) under the leadership of the late Dr. Jesse B. Fluelling, where they served faithfully for over 30 years. He served as the joint Chairman of the Deacon and Trustee Boards at TFGBC. He and Deaconess Myers were affectionately known as "dad and Mom" to many and they loved speaking with young married couples about keeping the "Good Master" first in their marriage and saying their money. Many learned how to budget by watching "Dad and Mom" Myers. He started H&M Tile and Linoleum Company in 1961. He and his wife worked side-by-side for over 30 years, along with his brother, Horace Myers, and Edmond Hamilton. He retired in 1992 and they moved to Hinesville, GA. They joined Live Oak Church of God in Christ in 1995 where they served the remaining part of their Christian walk. Trustee Myers was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Gertrude, both his parents and all of his siblings. He will truly be missed by many and leaves to cherish his memory his devoted children: Reverend Alfonso Fluelling (Joyce), Diana Myers and Ronald Myers (Debbie). He also leaves seven grand-children: Reginald Hopkins (Bessy) : David G. Myers II (Assunta), Maurice Fluelling (Vanecia), Shaun Fluelling, Lennita Fluelling, Victoria Myers, and Alexander Myers. He leaves twelve great-grandchildren: ReMahn Hopkins, Rekwahn Hopkins, Victoria Spriggs, Vanessa Spriggs, Cora Fluelling, Elaina Fluelling, Chloe Fluelling, Grayson Fluelling, Quiriana Fluelling, Mariana Fluelling, Lenae Fluelling, and Mikashia Myers, He was "DAD" to many and leaves a host of god-children, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
