Carrie S. Brown entered this life on July 4,1919 and departed this life on Friday August 25, 2017 at the age of 98. She was born to the late Thomas and Clara B. Samders in Whitmire, South Carolina. She grew up in Chester, South Carolina where she gave her life to the Lord at an early age. She relocated to Washington D.C. in the 1940's. In 1980, she joined anf became an active member of the St. Stephen Baptist Church. Carrie wad excited about numerous ministries in St. Stephen Baptist Church and was an active member of the Deaconess, Missionary and Sunday School ministries until her health issue kept her from serving. Anyone who knew Carrie Sanders Brown knew she had a big heart. She understood what it meant to embrace family, to take risks for those in her care, and to face challenges with courage. Carrie was very outgoing and did not hesitate to say exactly what was on her mind. Carrie was preceded in death by four brothers; Deacon Wade Sanders, Joseph B. Sanders, Thomas J. Sanders Jr. and Richard Sanders; and two sisters: Marie Lewis and Mary Wilson. Carrie leaves to cherish her memory, one sister Thelma Hailstock of Winston-Salem, MC: a loving and devoted great nephew, Frank Greenwell, Jr. Of Washington D.C.: a special cousin Hugh Sanders: four nieces: Patricia Onaloya, Maxine Abayomicole, Sharon Greenwell and Venice Hailstock; five mephews: Carver Lewis, James Sanders, Larry Sanders, Anthony Sanders and Joseph Parks; and a host of great mieces, nephews family and friends. She also leaves two special friends, Deaconess Allonease Readdy and Sister Lithia Andrews.
