Carolyn J. Smith, a beloved matriarch with the most vigorous presence in the room peacefully departed this life on Christmas Day, December 25th 2023 at 2:43 a.m. Born to the Late Hattie Parker and James Honesty, and preceded in death by her sisters Angel Holly, and Snady Parker, her brothers, Marco Honesty and James Honesty, Carolyn is survived by her three cherished siblings; Ruby Honesty, Randolph Honesty, and Andre Holly.

Raised in Washington, DC. Carolyn attended DC schools and proudly graduated from Roosevelt HS in 1969. She pursued higher education at UDC before dedicating over 30 years to public service in the DC government.

Caoyln's passions were as diverse as her life experiences. A dedicated Cowboys fan , she found joy in the simplicity of playing solitaire, watching Western movies, and savoring her favorite treat - butter pecan ice cream.

Family was Carolyn's heart, and she embraced every moment with them. Whether shopping, enjoying meals out, indulging in pampering pedicures and manicures, attending her grandkids' sports events, and even then live rap contests! She was truly revealed in the company of loved ones.

Carolyn faced the pain of losing her oldest son, Robert Settles and is survived by her two living children, Gregg Smith, and Gemilla Smith. Her legacy extends through her seven grandchildren; Chaine Smith, William Smith, Genea Smith, Gregg Smith Jr., Robert Settles Jr., Trey Woods, and Tamya Woods. She is also celebrated by her great - grandchildren , Damu and Damari Cunningham.

Throughout her journey, Carolyn found unwavering companionship inher best friend, Theresa Thomas, and leaves behind a host of cherished family and friends whose lives were touched by her warmth and love.
