Obituary

Carol was born March !2, 1931 in Worcester County outside of Pocomoke, Maryland on the eastern Shore of Maryland. Carol was born of a midwife's house and since the midwife didn't turn in the paperwork until March 24, that was the date the Federal Government listed as her birthday. That was the date listed for her social security, driver's license, tax payers, etc. Carol was born to Carrie Finney Collins and Barkley Collins. Carol grew up in South Orange, New Jersey (NJ) as her family moved to J, while she was still an infant. She was a graduate of Columbia High School in Maplewood, NJ. Carol was accepted to Howard University but went to work for the Federal Government. Carol worked at the Executive Office of the President, Department of Vetereans Affairs, Small Business Administration, Peace Corps, National Institutes of Health, and the Department of Agriculture.

Carol met Forrest A. Bell circa 1950 and they were married July 11, 1952 and had two children Sondra Arlene and Michael David.

Carol became a member of New Dawn Baptist Church in 1985 and has been a faithful member since having served as the Church Clerk and Trustee.

Carol has been a devoted Daughter, Mother and Aunt. The name Aunt Mom was given to Carol several years ago as she was not only mother to Sondra and Michael but also to a host of nieces and nephews who had lost their parents. Carol often drove the 2.5 hour trip to Snow Hill, Maryland to assist in the caring of her Mom ( Carrie Finney Collins Hawkins) in the last few years of her life.

Carol joined many social clubs and organizations often being elected President by her poets as she was a person who would organize and get things done. Two most prominent clubs were Les Soirettes and The Dolls.Family and Friends attended many cabarets with Les Soirettes (inc) and the famous bus trips to New York City/ Atlantic City durings the New Year's Holidays with The Dolls.

Carol was very fond traveling often visiting Florida. Virginia Beach, Ocean City, and Atlanta on a regular basis. Carol would often travel with a group of ladies that went by the name "The Golden Girls in Color."

Carol was preceded in death by her husband Forrest Bell (December 16, 1987). Carol leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Sondra, her son, Michael plus a host of nephews and nieces.

Summing it all up, friends, i'd say you'll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious, 'the best not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, nothings to curse, put into practice what you have learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his excellent harmonies. Philippians 4:8-9.
