Obituary

Brenda was born in Washington, D.C. to the late James Lee Rodgers and Reverend Lue Ella Rodgers March 9,1957. She departed life on April 12, 2017. She was the 2nd oldest sister of 5 children. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Victor S. Robertson, Jr. and her oldest daughter, Chanita M. Robertson. Brenda grew up in Washington, D.C. and was educated through DC public schools. She attended Grimke Elementary School. Alice Deal Junior High. Wilson Senior High and the Washington School of Cosmetology.Brenda enjoyed her career working as a Human Resources Specialist at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WRAMC) in Washington, D.C. She loved working with people and was always willing to do whatever she could to help someone else. Her humble spirit. throughout her career she receieved several Certificates of Appreciation and Awards for her professionalism and outstanding performance on the job. Brenda was a proud and well deserving recipient of the Commander's Award for outstanding civilian service. She was honored for her exemplary performance of duty while serving as a Human Resources Specialist with the Civilian Personnel Advisory Center for the period of 2008 to July 2011. She retired in July 2011 with honors after serving over 34 years of outstanding customer service to the Soliders and Civilians of the United States Army and Civilian Human Resources Agency. Brenda accepted Christ at an early age and attended church with her mother and father at New Betheny Baptist Church in 1974 Brenda became a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Richard A. Carroll where she maintained her membership for the rest of her life under the leadership of Pastor John W. Davis. While affiliated with Mt. Zion she was a member of the Young Adult Choir, the Voices of Mt. Zion, the Mass Choir, the Ensemble and specialty choirs when needed becsuse she loved to sing Brenda enjoyed singing and listening to gospel music. She started singing at a young age and continued to sing throughout her adult life. She was a member of the Golden Era Ministry. During her illness she always remained positive, talking and posting about our lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Through her words of encouragement and prayers she never stopped trusting and believing in God with her whole heart. She put all her trust in the Lord which is why we know that she is okay and it is well with her soul that she is rsting safe in His loving arms. The lord is her Shepard and she has everything she needs. Brenda leaves to cherish her memory her loving mother, Reverend lue Ella Rodgers, daughters, Chaunta (John) Proctor and Catrina Robertson: 3 sisters, Marilan (Keith) Hinds, Jan (Corneliues) Tuff, Jamie (Keith) Colson and 1 brother, Clifford Rodgers (Arnie Wright), nieces, Andrea Wright, Bernise Rainey and Keiona Ellis nephews, Amanual (Britney) Wright, granddaughters, Harmoni C.L. Proctor and Janell Proctor; aunts, Costella Allen, Elizabeth Daniel, Linda Frazier, Margaret Thompson and Marie Samules; Uncles Samuel (Francis) Rogers and the late Junoir Rogers, sisters -in-law Minister Alease (Charles) Jones and Addie Robertson; brothers- in -law, Robert Robertson, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, those who adopted her as their mother and auntie and many co-workers and firends.
