Barbara Jean
Pinckney
October 11, 1938 – May 9, 2026
Barbara Jean Pinckney was born on October 11, 1938, in Siler City, North Carolina, to Jabe and Lugene (Siler) Price. She was the ninth of ten children in a loving family of five girls and five boys. Barbara graduated from Chatham High School, attended North Carolina A&T University, and later moved to Washington, DC to pursue modeling school. She went on to build a dedicated career as a Catalog Supply Specialist with the General Services Administration, where she faithfully worked for 35 years.
In June 1961, Barbara married the love of her life, Alan Pinckney, Sr. Together, they
shared 59 beautiful years of marriage until his passing in July 2020. From their union
came three children: Alan Jr., David Sr., and Gina.
Barbara’s faith was the foundation of her life. She was a devoted member of Contee
AME Zion Methodist Church before later joining Rhema Christian Center Church, where she faithfully served in numerous ministries. She sang in the Women’s Fellowship Choir,served as a tribe leader, and dedicated her time to ministries including the Willing Workers, Children’s Church, and Outreach Missionaries at Heartland of Hyattsville Nursing Home.
Barbara had a heart for people and a passion for sharing the love of Christ. Whether
visiting nursing homes, encouraging others through prayer, or simply speaking about
God’s goodness, she lived her faith openly and compassionately. Her kindness,
wisdom, and unwavering belief touched countless lives, and she never missed an
opportun is lovingly remembered by her children: Alan Pinckney, Jr. and his son, Alan III;ity to tell others what God had done for her and what He could do for them.
Barbara
David (Kimberly) Pinckney and his children, Ryan (Adonica), Jalen, David Jr. and Aliah; and Gina (Lloyd) Thompson and their daughters Nina, Courtney, Casey, and Laila, along with great-grandchildren Grayson, Marlee, Nyla and Amir.
She is also survived by her sisters, Mazelle Roberts and Cozette (George) Miller; her
brother, Joseph Price; her sister-in-law, Berta Pinckney; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
Barbara was preceded in death by her loving husband and her first grandchild, Alicia
Pinckney. Barbara’s legacy of faith, love, and service will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
