Allen Terry Avents, age 62 was born on Nov. 25, 1961 to the union of James and Rosalee Avents in Washington, DC. He attended District of Columbia Public Schools. Allen was a bright and shining star. His love for music motivated him to join the school band. He enjoyed playing the saxophone and flute. Two of his favorites. He also had a penchant for singing. Allen grew up in a loving Christian home. His parents worked diligently. In providing a stable and nurturing environment for him and his siblings. He was extremely fond of his grandmother, Bertha Avents. he enjoyed his visits with her as well as their effervescent phone conversations. She was always happy to see him, and was concerned when not hearing from him. He delighted in being independent. However, did not hesitate to ask for assistance from sisters, Juliet and Ronica when needed. For the past ten years, he was a resident at the Malcolm X House in South East DC. There, he participated in group and community activities. Allen took pride in his personal care, most importantly, his choice of clothing.His preference was to always look his best. A goal well-achieved. He will be missed by family and friends. No more earthly pain, only eternity gains. The family cherish the many, years, God gave them to visit with their beloved Allen. And would like to thank you in advance for your continued prayers, thoughtfulness and Acts of Kindness.
