IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Abraham Thomas
Moses
January 7, 1942 – October 26, 2020
Abraham Thomas Moses was born with the name "Baby Thomas Moses" on January 7,1942, in Karikkattoon, Kerala, India to Thomas Edapallil and Aleyamma Thomas. Moses was the oldest child followed by four girls, and he was brought up as an Anglican in his formative years. However, that all changed when his father. Thomas, became sick with an incurable disease. Thomas sought medical help, but unfortunately remained in the same condition. It was at that time that two CPM believers from another village came witnessing, and they prayed for him and he was instantaneously healed.
Moses' father gave their house to open the first faith home in their village. Moses had been living with his grandparents and was 8 years old when his father and family had a conversation experience. He himself had typhoid twice and died. The Lord miraculously raised him up which caused him to realize that God had a plan for him. Moses began to live with his parents and attended the meetings in CPM, but had questions about water baptism and the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Through a miraculous expeience he was convinced of both experiences and was baptized by immersion and baptized by the Holy Ghost with tremendous power.
Once Moses knew the Lord, he was a changed man and this became evident even in his studies. He was one of the first from his village to go to university; and for this reason, he moved to Ernakulum. While in university he was on fire for the Lord. With a group of young men from the church, which included the late Pastor T.U. Thomas, Moses began to have prayer meetings and do evangelistic work with his friends. He and his best friend, the late Pas, Bhaktan, won many souls to the Lord. He also became friends with his future father-in-law who had been transferred there because of his job.
Bro. Moses finished his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Economics in Ernakulum, and God opened a way for him to emigrate to the U.S. Before leaving India, he married Sis. Saramma on December 30,1970. He arrived in Brooklyn, New York, in 1971., carrying a letter rrom Pas. A.C. Thomas to Pas. Don and Sis. Alice, in which Pastor A.C. asked them to detain bro. Moses from going to Michigan where he was scheduled to do his Ph.D. Accordingly, he accompanied them 3 weeks later to Washington, D.C. and helped them vigorously with the new church. He began to work as a professor in Howard University and did another Masters in Education in the Washington, D.C. area.
While working, Bro. Moses witnessed to all the employees and organized Bible studies during his lunch hour for the employees, God gave him much fruit form his labor for the Lord through the Bible studies.
Meanwhile, Sis. Saramma came in 1973, and the lord blessed them with four children. Bro. Moses began work with the board of Education: and as he visited various public schools, he decided to never send his children to a public school. The Lord gave a desire to the believers in the church to start a Christian school for their children. During this time, the Lord gave Bro. Moses a dream of children (including his own) jumping into hell. Three times he heard the voice of the Lord saying "Moses, save these children from hell!" Shortly after the Christian School was formed, he was asked to be the principal in 1978, and continued in that ministry until 2015.
There was aperiod where Bro. Moses was sent to Philadelphia with the family for a year and a half to help start the church. While he was there, Bro. Moses worked in a car factory as a chaplain because many were healed through prayer while on the job. His passion was seeing souls come to Christ: he witnessed whereever he went. When he shared the gospel he always explained the whole gospel and the three basic experiences of salvation. Even the children in the Christian school were not exempt from hearing of God's full salvation.
Bro. Moses planned many evangelistic outreaches; he was involved in the distribution of Gideon Bibles, the prison ministry, ministry to the homeless, National Day of Prayer, the Bible Read-a-thon, until he was no longer able to go due to his declining health. He always made time to study the Bible at night and was ready "in season and out of season" to share the Word of God.
He inspired and encouraged many to go to the mission fields and helped them launch their ministries through much prayer. in his home, the brothers in the church would have all night prayers with a move of deliverence.
He instructed his children well from the Word of God and family prayers was a daily practice in their home. He even taught them to fast and pray from a young age. Scripture memorization was also so ery important to him.
In his last moments, with the little strength that he had he never stopped praying or praising the Lord during his affliction. Until the last momment he lifted up his hands and was filled with the Holy Ghost. He slipped peacefully into the presence of God being surrounded by his family and believers.
Bro. Moses is survived by his wife, Sis. Saramma: his children; Elizabeth, Becci, Paul and Blossom, Freddy and Iris, Susan (adopted) and Leons: his grandchildren, Ezekiel. John, Levi, Aiden, Irene, and Daniel: and his sisters, Anamma, Alicekutty, and a host of family: and most of all, his family in Christ.
The family would like to thank all of you for your prayer and support during this time.
